Recycling Today for a Better Tomorrow: An Allied Waste Services of Utah Philosophy

Today, more than ever, people understand the need to responsibly manage waste. For a growing percentage of the population, this means looking for more opportunities to reduce, reuse and recycle. Individuals in communities that we serve can recycle in a number of ways. In some cases, we offer recycling drop-off locations. In others, curbside home collection is available. Businesses can also find out about our available commercial recycling capabilities whether they have one location or hundreds. Call us at (800) 373-0143 or click here to send us a message.

Allied Waste Services of Utah Recycling--Materials Recovery Facilities
Republic is one of America’s largest recyclers. We have 76 materials recovery facilities and other recycling operations. These facilities sort recyclable paper, cardboard, aluminum, glass and other materials.

Most of these recyclable materials are internally collected by our residential collection operations. In some areas, we receive commercial and industrial solid waste that is sorted at our facilities into recyclable materials and non-recyclable waste. The recyclable materials are salvaged, repackaged and shipped to third parties, and the non-recyclable waste is disposed of.

Republic Services recycles approximately 3 million tons of materials annually. That’s more than 200 pounds per second. Recycling the paper products alone is equivalent to saving 41 million trees.

Allied Waste Services of Utah is committed to the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle. We believe that, as a company, it's not only in our best interest to promote sustainable practices that benefit the community we work and live in, but it's our obligation.

We hope that you find the recycling and environment sections of our website useful. We've populated the pages with practical "how to" information that will enable residents to initiate and implement a number of green projects, as well as local eco-friendly projects and initiatives. If there is a topic that you would like to see us cover, please let us know.

If you don't have time or the money to work on a larger green initiative, check out our Green Tip of the Month below for quick and easy tips that will help you reduce your environmental impact and be on your way to a greener life without spending a dime.
